• Committee for Democratic Bangladesh (1985-1990). Founding president. Spearheaded the movement against Dictator General Ershad to restore democracy in Bangladesh. Organized demonstrations, seminars; and lobbied to the US Congress demanding the restoration of democracy and human rights in Bangladesh.
• National Coordinating Committee for the Realization of Liberation War Ideals and the Trial of War Criminals of 1971, USA Chapter Co-founder and past president. Spearheaded a movement in the USA and the international forum for the trial of Bangladesh war criminals. Organized rallies, seminars, and lobbied the US State Department and US Justice Department in order to seek cooperation for the trial of war criminals. This committee sent a US attorney as an observer to the People’s Court in Dhaka for the trial of Bangladesh war criminal Golam Azam.
• Bangladeshi Americans against Terrorism, Inc: Founding President. Organized an international seminar on September 30th, 2006 at the Millennium United Nations Plaza Hotel to protest the grenade attack against the Honorable Sheikh Hasina, as well as, other terrorist attacks against Awami League members and minorities sponsored by the BNP-led government. A video was produced and distributed documenting this violence.
• Federation of Bangladeshi Associations in North America (FOBANA): Co-founder, two-term past Chairman and current advisor to the central executive committee. FOBANA is an umbrella organization of regional North American Bangladeshi organizations. FOBANA has been engaged in promoting networking and friendship among Bangladeshi North Americans as well as with mainstream North American people. It also works to promote the Bengali language and culture in North America. Since the birth of FOBANA, Dr. Nabi has been instrumental in fostering the growth and direction of the organization.• Bangabandhu Parishad, USA: Co-founder & current president, since 1996. Organized annual events and several conventions promoting the life and ideals of Bangabandhu in the USA. Sponsored the production of Palashi Theke Dhanmondi, a play written by Mr. Abdul Gaffar Choudhury about the life of Bangabandhu Sheik Mujibur Rahman. Raised seed money for the production a video of the play.

• Society to Help Education in Bangladesh International (SHEBI). President. Raised and donated about $250,000.00 so far to promote education-related projects in Bangladesh including the construction of the Sandwip Ideal Girls High School which also serves as cyclone Shelter for the island community of Sandwip, Bangladesh.
